gotta love the irony of the u.s. americans in the notes defending not putting their country name on international mail because their state is in the address, on a post about how u.s. americans themselves don't even know what country all their states are in.

OK but genuine, what's happening in America that's prompting chatl ike this? I can barely keep up with the horrible things happening in MY country.

The governor of Texas has been trying to crack down on undocumented migration and doing things like deploying razor wire, which the federal government said was illegal (since, you know, it'll kill people). The federal border patrol got approval to cut the razor wire near a specific park they were using to process migrants, so the Texas governor responded by blockading the park to keep federal border agents from entering. This was done with the Texas National Guard, a military unit. So we've got a state's military division against the Federal government.

Some other southern states have pledged support for Texas, even sending their own national guard units to join in.

And the thing people are really worried about is that the president has the legal right to take control of these national guards, given that they're part of the US Army which he's in charge of. The worry is that if he does that to end this crisis, they won't agree, and will effectly defect from the US, and he'll have to send in the national military to fight against a former part of itself, making this dispute into an actual Civil War.

The real problem is the theme parks would have to change their name to Seven Flags
